Deaf Awareness Training
Typical courses delivered include: Training for Care Staff an intensive one-day course providing background knowledge and practical skills appropriate to care of the elderly with a hearing loss. Participants will: Be able to clean, re-tube and change batteries of standard hearing aids. Understand the different types of hearing aid and identify NHS aids. Be able to apply effective communication techniques with hard-of-hearing clients. Be aware of other supportive services and equipment aids to assist deaf and hearing impaired people. Differentiate between the differing degrees of hearing loss and relevant needs. A Certificate of Competence is awarded to students who successfully complete the course.

Sign Language Courses
Hi Kent provides British Sign Language training through non-residential weekend courses. All tutors are qualified and experienced, producing consistently high success rates. Courses offered:
It has the aim of preparing students for the nationally recognised CACDP Level I Assessment. The cost of this 4-weekend Course is £302. (includes examination fees).
It has the aim of preparing students for the nationally recognised CACDP Level I1 Assessment. The Course delivers the 90 hours classroom based tuition required. Intensive study weekends are held - one a month for 7 months. Students must be prepared to devote at least 30 hours to private study at home. The cost of this extensive Course is £525. (Excludes the examination fees which are payable directly to CACDP*). *
